New Jersey and the Tri-State

Garba night, pithi, baraat, and the six hundred people in between.

New Jersey weddings are rarely one day. We fly in before the first event and stay with you until the last guest leaves the reception.

The weekend is the wedding

Central New Jersey, around Edison and Iselin, is home to one of the largest Indian-American communities in the country, and its weddings are built to match.

A typical New Jersey booking is three or four events across a long weekend: a pithi in the morning with turmeric everywhere, a garba or raas night that runs well past midnight, a baraat that turns a hotel driveway into a street party, then the ceremony and a reception for several hundred guests. Gujarati and Punjabi traditions often sit side by side in the same family, sometimes in the same evening.

We have filmed this kind of weekend for more than twenty-five years, across roughly 9,700 weddings. For a New Jersey wedding, the team flies in ahead of the first event, walks the property with your planner and venue coordinator, and is the same crew from the first dandiya to the last dance.

We do not have a New Jersey office and we will not pretend to. What we have is a team that has stood in the middle of a garba circle before, and knows where to be when the dhol changes tempo.

What a New Jersey wedding weekend asks for

The parts that are easy to underestimate until they are happening.

  • 01

Garba and raas, from inside the circle

Hundreds of people moving in rings for hours. We cover it from the floor and from height, so the film has both the energy of the dance and the shape of the room.

  • 02

    Pithi and haldi mornings

Turmeric, bright daylight and family in every doorway. Fast, close and unposed, with gear we are prepared to get yellow.

  • 03

The baraat at a hotel property

Driveways, parking structures and porte-cocheres were not designed for a dhol, a horse or a vintage car. We plan the route and the timing with the venue coordinator so the arrival is filmed, not interrupted.

  • 04

    Guest counts in the hundreds

Large receptions need more than one angle on every moment. We staff the crew to the guest count rather than to a standard package.

  • 05

Gujarati and Punjabi rituals, side by side

Mameru, jaggo, milni, the kanyadaan, the pheras. We know which side of the family is doing what, and which moment cannot be repeated.

  • 06

One team for photo and film

Photographers and videographers who plan together, so nobody blocks anyone else at the mandap or on the dance floor.

Coverage for New Jersey

Built around the weekend rather than a single day.

We don't publish prices, because no two multi-day weddings are the same. Tell us your date, your city and how many events you are planning, and we will send an itemized quote with nothing to decode.

How a New Jersey booking runs

  1. 01
    Months ahead

    The first call

We go through every event, the venues, the guest count and which traditions each side of the family will bring.

  2. 02
    In the weeks before

    Planner and venue coordinator

We agree baraat routes, load-in times and timelines with your planner and each venue coordinator, so nothing is negotiated on the day.

  3. 03
    Before the first event

    The team arrives

We land ahead of the pithi or garba night, walk the spaces, and are rested and ready before the first guest arrives.

  4. 04
    After the weekend

    Edit and delivery

Highlights first, then the feature film, documentary edits and album.

Questions

Before you ask.

Do you cover garba and raas nights?

Yes, and we treat them as a main event rather than a warm-up. Garba nights often run late and fill the whole floor, so we plan angles from height as well as from inside the circle.

Can you film a baraat at a hotel?

Yes. Hotels usually have rules about where a baraat can start, how long it can run and whether a horse or a dhol is allowed outside. We confirm those with your venue coordinator in advance and plan the coverage around them.

Our wedding has more than five hundred guests. Is that a problem?

No. It changes how many people we bring, not whether we can do it. We size the crew to the guest count and the number of events.

Will it be the same team on every day?

Yes. The team that films your pithi is the team at your reception. That continuity is the main reason couples book one studio for the whole weekend.

You travel in for the wedding. How does that work for New Jersey?

The team flies in ahead of the first event, typically into Newark, and works alongside your local planner and venue coordinators. The team arrives ahead of your first event, with time to walk the venue and meet your planner before anything begins.
