Female photographer
Women behind the camera for the rooms that need them.
For plenty of families this is a requirement, not a nice-to-have. Without it, the bride's side of the wedding often goes undocumented.
Why couples request a woman on the crew
Some of the most personal photographs of a wedding are made in the bridal suite, and in many families a man is simply not welcome there.
Think of the bride with her cousins while the lehenga is pinned, her mother adjusting the dupatta, the quiet half hour before the music starts. If the crew is all men, those images are either missing or taken from the hallway through a half-open door, and it shows.
The need goes beyond the morning. Many Muslim weddings separate men and women at the reception or walima, and the women's side is frequently where the real party is. At Hindu, Sikh and other South Asian weddings, an elder may only be comfortable with a woman taking her picture, and unless that is planned, her portrait quietly goes missing.
Women on our team photograph these moments as full members of the crew, with their own cameras and their own assignments, not as a helper pulled in at the last minute. Mention it when you first reach out and we build it into the crew from the start.
Where she works
Everything on the bride's side, and the moments that gain from a second perspective.
- 01
The bridal suite
Hair and makeup, jewelry, mehndi details, and the private time with family that no one else will document.
- 02
Women-only events
A ladies' sangeet, a separate mehndi or a segregated reception, photographed completely rather than glimpsed from the door.
- 03
Relatives who prefer a woman
Agreed with you ahead of time and handled discreetly, so no one has to explain or negotiate in front of guests.
- 04
Bridal party portraits
Bridesmaids and cousins often relax faster with a woman directing, and the photographs reflect it.
- 05
Part of the full team
She does not replace the rest of the coverage. Through the ceremony and reception she shoots alongside the main crew like any other photographer.
- 06
Video on the bride's side
If the bridal suite or the women's reception needs to be filmed as well, ask about a female videographer when you inquire.
Ways to include her
We treat this as a staffing choice, not an extra package, so it slots into any coverage option.
Bridal suite
- A woman photographing the morning preparations
- Joins the main crew once the ceremony begins
- A good fit when later events are not separated
Bride's side, full day
- A female photographer from morning to the last dance
- Full coverage of a women's reception or walima
- Works alongside the main crew all day
All-female crew
- For weddings where every event requires it
- Photography and video
- Needs the longest lead time, so ask early
Travel and accommodation are itemized separately in your written quote.
We don't publish prices, because no two multi-day weddings are the same. Tell us your date, your city and how many events you are planning, and we will send an itemized quote with nothing to decode.
Twenty-five years in the room
What families notice afterward
The difference shows up in three places.
The bridal suite is in the gallery
A thin record of the bride's morning is the regret families mention most about earlier weddings. Putting the right person in that room fixes it.
Nothing had to be sorted out on the day
Because it was agreed in advance, no aunt has to ask a stranger to step outside while the bride is mid-makeup.
Questions
Before you ask.
Are there women on your team, or do you hire one when asked?
Women photograph weddings with us as part of the team. Like anyone on the crew, they are booked by date, so the sooner you ask the better.
Will a female photographer travel to our wedding in the US?
Yes. Female photographers and filmmakers can travel for US weddings. Mention it when you inquire, ideally early, so we can confirm female crew for your dates.
Is an all-female crew possible?
It can be done for some weddings. Staffing every role with women draws on a smaller pool, it needs the longest lead time of anything we offer, so raise it at your first inquiry.
Is the work the same standard?
She is on the team because of her portfolio. A family that needs a woman in the bridal suite deserves the same photographs as anyone else, and we would not offer this if that were not the case.
Does adding her change the cost?
Adding a photographer adds to the crew, so the answer turns on how many hours and events she is with you. Send us your schedule and the quote will reflect it.

Is your datestill free?
Tell us the date and the venue and we will come back within one business day with availability, a team size and an itemized quote.
